
Vigilance Bureau files case against Naib Tehsildar, Patwari, woman for tampering with revenue records

During the ongoing anti-corruption drive, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has booked Amarjit Singh, Naib Tehsildar, Sub Tehsil Attari, Balwinderjit Singh, Patwari and a woman for misusing their official positions and transferring land in the woman’s name in revenue records. A criminal case has been registered for giving undue benefits. In this case, Balwinderjit Singh Patwari, now Kanungo, Revenue Halka Neshta, District Amritsar has been arrested and teams have been formed to arrest the rest of the accused.
A spokesperson of Vigilance informed here today that a case has been registered against the accused officials and the woman after investigation by the Vigilance Bureau. Giving further details, the Vigilance Bureau said that during the investigation, it has come to light that the said revenue officials were in connivance with Harjit Kaur of village Muhawa, Amritsar district and 79 marle lands were transferred in her name. He further said that while transferring the land in the name of the said woman, the accused officials had tampered with the revenue records as the owner of the said land had died in the year 1959 and the transfer of the land was based on the photocopy of the forged deed in the presence of the land owners. was done without making sure.
The spokesperson said that a case has been registered against all the above accused in Vigilance Police Station, Amritsar Range under Section 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of IPC and Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act. He said that further investigation is going on in this case.
