Chief Minister reiterates commitment to protect the interests of farmers

Chandigarh:
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday ordered Girdawari to assess the damage caused to the wheat crop in the state due to inclement weather and incessant rains.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Chief Minister&;s Office said that the Chief Minister has directed the Financial Commissioner (Revenue) to issue detailed instructions to the concerned Deputy Commissioners to get Girdawari done immediately in the rain affected areas to ascertain the damage caused to the crops. Can be put on priority. Bhagwant Mann said that the affected farmers would be given adequate compensation as per the norms of the government.

The Chief Minister assured the farmers that the government is committed to protect their interests from the ravages of nature. He said that every effort would be made to compensate for the damage caused by the recent rains in the state.
