
Punjab’s first paddy straw based torrefaction plant gets financial assistance from Central Pollution Control Board: Meet Hare

Under the guidelines of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for the proper management of paddy straw, the ex-situ arrangements being made by the Punjab Pollution Control Board have received a big boost. Due to the efforts of the Board, guidelines have been issued by the Central Pollution Control Board for providing one time financial assistance to an industrial unit under Environment Protection Charge Funds for setting up a pelletization and rototection plant to promote the use of paddy straw.
Science, Technology and Environment Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hair said in a press statement issued here today that the Punjab Pollution Control Board has encouraged entrepreneurs and existing industrial units to promote maximum use of paddy straw in the state for paddy straw based pelletization and A torrefaction plant has been encouraged to be set up. Due to the continuous and sincere efforts of the boards, three industrial units of Punjab have applied on the portal of the board to get financial assistance under the guidelines issued by the central board. Out of the three units, on the recommendations of the Board, M/s A.B. Tulsh Village Dhapai, Bhikkhli (District) has successfully received financial assistance of Rs.81,85,805 from the Central Board for setting up a 3 TPH capacity Paddy Straw Based Torrification Plant which is Rs.2,04,64,513 (Rs.2,04,64,513). is 40 percent.
Meet Hare further said that this ex-situ management of paddy straw and setting up of such units in the state will make paddy straw based thermal power plants available within the state and burning of paddy straw in open fields. Establishment of such pelletisation/torotection plants and providing financial assistance will encourage entrepreneurs and existing industrial units which will significantly increase the utilization of paddy straw produced in the state.
