Explaining the successful completion of the first phase of Punjab’s unprecedented development in the last one year, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that we are working tirelessly not to form the next government, but for the prosperity of the next generations.
In a video message to Punjabis after the completion of one year of his government’s tenure, the Chief Minister said that during the assembly elections held last year, the people of the state gave a broad mandate in favor of the Aam Aadmi Party. He said that with the dedicated efforts made by the government for the overall development and prosperity of the people, the state has witnessed revolutionary changes during the last one year. Bhagwant Mann said that our government is focusing on the overall development of the next generation, unlike the previous government which was trying to create the next government.
The Chief Minister thanked the people from the bottom of his heart for handing over the responsibility of Punjab with a large-scale fatwa. He said that the trust and love shown by the people has paved the way for them to perform their duties effectively. Bhagwant Mann asked for the support of the people, especially the migrant Indians, to map out the new Punjab.
The Chief Minister said that for the first time such a government was formed in Punjab, which is especially related to the people of the state. He said that this government is neither Badal’s nor Captain’s, this government belongs to every Punjabi. Bhagwant Mann assured the people that according to their expectations, no stone will be left unturned to ensure the welfare of the state and soon Punjab will become a new, progressive and dynamic state.
The Chief Minister said that during the last year, Punjab has witnessed extensive development and in the second year too, more emphasis will be placed on development and progress. He said that concessions are being given to industries for development in the state, with which Punjab will emerge as an industrial stronghold in the coming days. Bhagwant Mann said that a comprehensive campaign will be launched in the coming days to uproot drugs from the state.
Enumerating the many people-friendly initiatives taken by the Punjab government in the last one year, the Chief Minister said that the state government has given 26,797 government jobs in the last one year so far to curb the trend of migration of youth to foreign countries. He said that in this entire recruitment process, the only criterion is eligibility and this whole process is being carried out in a transparent manner. Bhagwant Mann said that giving such a large number of jobs in just one year shows the commitment of the state government to ensure the welfare of the youth by providing employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister further said that the state government has fulfilled the guarantee of providing 300 units of free electricity every month from July 1. He said that it is a matter of pride that in November-December 2022, the electricity bill of 87 percent of the houses in the state came to zero. Bhagwant Mann said that he belongs to a common family and is well aware of the problems faced by common people.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has regularized the services of 14 thousand temporary employees and the cabinet has given approval to regularize the services of the same number of other employees. He said that the state government has encouraged mangroves as the third crop to get the farmers out of the crop cycle of wheat and paddy and to conserve ground water. Bhagwant Mann said that mongoose has been procured at the minimum support price of Rs 7275 per quintal, which has brought an additional income of Rs 30 thousand per acre to the farmers.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has provided financial assistance to the farmers at the rate of Rs 1500 per acre to encourage direct sowing of paddy. He said that the state government has paid all the outstanding dues of sugarcane growers for previous years. Bhagwant Mann also said that my government has increased the wages of daily wage workers for the first time.
The Chief Minister further said that the state government has opened more than 500 Aam Aadmi clinics across Punjab to provide quality health services to the people. He said that these clinics are providing free standard treatment and diagnostic services to the people. Bhagwant Mann said that in just a few months, 12 to 15 lakh patients have benefited from these Aam Aadmi clinics.
The Chief Minister said that 117 schools of eminence have been established in 23 districts to impart quality education to children. Bhagwant Mann said that these schools will prepare the students for future competitive examinations. He said that no stone will be left unturned for the overall development of the state and the day is not far when the ancient glory of Punjab will be restored.
Reiterating his government’s commitment to punish the perpetrators of blasphemy, the Chief Minister said that this is the first time the state government has taken a step in this direction. He said that justice is not far away in these cases as the challan has already been presented in the court to ensure the strictest punishment to the accused. Bhagwant Mann said that the day is not far when the culprits of this heinous crime will be behind bars.
